Lillian Roselin to Receive the Sustained Commitment Award at the 12th Annual Philanthropy Awards
Lillian Roselin — Executive Director, John Muir Community Health Fund
For the last decade, Lillian Roselin has been extraordinarily impactful as the Executive Director for the John Muir Community Health Fund (CHF). Roselin humbly partners with communities to identify and address their urgent health-related needs. What she achieved in the past year – leading the Community Health Fund through a rigorous process to make health equity a reality in East and Central Contra Costa County – is possibly her most impressive feat yet.
Roselin works to ensure the CHF has the most effective and sustainable impact possible. Roselin spearheaded an education process to counter the health effects of racism and poverty. Based on community input, she helped establish an advisory board to hold the CHF accountable for incorporating health equity into its grantmaking. The first tangible result was a grant to Village Keepers for the development of an African American Family Wellness Center that will reduce historical barriers to quality and culturally responsive health care and mental health services.
Roselin’s creative vision and ability to foster partnerships garner incredible results. For the Health Careers Pathway Initiative, she brought aging advocates, educators, and an elder care system together to build a program that offers training and jobs while bridging a gap in the healthcare system for seniors. Programs such as this last because Roselin provides resources and support to prospective grantees to ensure they have plans for sustaining their proposals. Roselin’s empathy and support are essential to the success of CHF’s programs and stem from her assertion that the best way to affect change is to believe in people and support them where they are.
Roselin also fosters CHF support for other incredible initiatives that build resilience across the lifespan, including: La Clínica’s mental health services; Mindful Life Project’s mindfulness training in East and Central Contra Costa schools; the John Muir Land Trust’s Family Harvest Farm, which teaches emancipated foster youth life and work skills; and Love Never Fails’ program to help survivors of human trafficking.
Making a difference is never easy, but the CHF’s results are remarkable. In the past year alone, CHF-supported community partners have delivered healthcare and support services to approximately 247,000 individuals in East and Central Contra Costa County. Lillian Roselin’s decade-long work with the CHF has had incredible and substantial short and long-term impacts across East and Central Contra Costa County.
We are so excited to honor Lillian Roselin with the Sustained Commitment Award at the 2022 Philanthropy Awards on November 17. If you are interested in attending please register here.
